Are you open yet?

Where do the reptiles come from?
All our reptiles come from trusted, ethical sources including private rescues, responsible breeders, and animal educators across Ontario and Canada. Many were surrendered by owners who could no longer care for them properly.

How are the reptiles chosen?
Each reptile at Mystik is selected for their temperament, ease of handling, and comfort in a people-facing environment. We work closely with exotic animal specialists to ensure the animals we host are healthy, adaptable, and enjoy enrichment in controlled spaces. Only animals that thrive with interaction and ambient activity are placed in the Jungle Lounge.

Are the reptiles stressed by the café environment?
No. Our reptiles are housed in custom-designed enclosures that simulate their natural habitats, complete with temperature, humidity, and lighting controls. Each enclosure is positioned to minimize overstimulation, and many animals are rotated on rest days. Interaction is always supervised, and no animal is ever forced into contact.

Are your reptiles handled by guests?
Some reptiles can be gently interacted with under staff supervision. However, not all animals are available for handling. Our staff are trained to read animal stress signals and will always prioritize the well-being of the reptile. We also rotate animals and limit the number of guest interactions daily to avoid overexposure.

How do you ensure the reptiles are healthy?

We keep detailed logs of feeding, hydration, shedding, and behavior for every reptile. Each animal follows a structured care routine tailored to its species. Clean enclosures, regular misting, proper UV exposure, and species-specific diets are all part of our daily care. Any unusual behavior is taken seriously and the animal is given private time to recover.

Do reptiles enjoy being touched?
It depends on the species and individual. Some reptiles, like certain snakes and lizards, tolerate and even seek out warmth and gentle handling. Others prefer to be observed only. At Mystik, nothing is ever forced—we respect the personality and limits of each animal.

Can guests feed the reptiles?
Feeding is part of select guided experiences only. We do not allow unsupervised feeding to prevent overfeeding or accidental harm. During interactive sessions, our staff explains each species’ unique diet and how their feeding behaviors work.

Do the reptiles bite?
Like any animal, reptiles can bite if they feel threatened. However, the animals used for interactions are temperament-tested, and staff are trained to manage interactions safely. Our goal is to educate and inspire—not to frighten.

Are reptiles dangerous or venomous?
All reptiles at Mystik are non-venomous and pose no danger to visitors when approached respectfully. We prioritize safety for guests and animals alike.

Can I take photos?
Absolutely! Photos are encouraged—but please, no flash. Sudden light can stress reptiles or interfere with their circadian rhythms. Feel free to tag us @MystikCafe 📸✨

Can i bring kids? Is there an age limit?

Children under 3 are welcome, but are not permitted to participate in hands-on reptile experiences for safety reasons. Anyone under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the Jungle Lounge.

Can I bring drinks or food into the Reptile Jungle?

No—food and drinks are not allowed in the Reptile Jungle Lounge for the safety of our animals and your experience. Enjoy all café items on the Ocean World floor.

Why do you have reptiles in a café?
Mystik was built to challenge misconceptions. We aim to spark curiosity, educate the public, and create positive associations with animals that are often misunderstood. We’re not a petting zoo—we’re an immersive, thoughtfully curated space that celebrates design, conservation, and emotional connection.

Booking FAQs

Does each person in my group need their own ticket?

Yes! Since space is limited, every person entering the Reptile Jungle needs their own ticket—even if they’re just tagging along. This helps us manage capacity and ensure a smooth experience for everyone.

Do I need a ticket even if i'm just accompanying my child? 

Yes — because space is limited, every person entering the Reptile Jungle needs a ticket, whether or not they participate in the interaction. It’s similar to a theatre or exhibit: even if you're just observing, a ticket is still required for entry.

​

Do I have to book in advance?

No, but we recommend it. We only have capacity for so many guests at one time, and without a reservation cannot guarantee your time with the kittens.

Does each person in my group need to sign their own waiver?

Yes. This is incredibly important for the safety of the reptiles, so you must have your waiver signed prior to your experience. The link to your waiver will be in your confirmation email.

Why don’t you allow children under 3 years old and pregnant guests for hands-on experiences?
For safety reasons. While our reptiles are gentle and well-socialized, they are still live animals with natural instincts. Young children and pregnant guests may be more vulnerable to accidental movements, stress reactions, or environmental factors like humidity and lighting. Observation is always welcome—but hands-on interaction is limited to ensure everyone’s well-being.

Do you offer private experiences?

We do offer private experiences. The maximum capacity for a private event is 16 people. For parties of children under the age

of 13, there must be at least one adult per 6 children. To book a private event, head to our private events page.

Do I need a reservation?

• Ocean Café is walk-in friendly.

• Reptile Jungle requires a ticket. Booking ahead is recommended, especially on weekends.

 

Are pets allowed?

Only service animals are allowed — and only on the Ocean Café side. For the safety of our reptiles and guests, we cannot allow other pets in the space.​​
